Blogging as a student...

I really like being an online student. I like the flexibility. We have to be present for one hour a week in an actual "class" but the rest of the time, we the students can work on the homework at our convenience. I work ten to twelve hour days sundays through wednesdays so that is really great for me. I can get a lot of the homework taken care of between thursdays and saturdays. Also, I feel more comfortable with asking questions that may be "stupid" because nobody can see me turning hot pink (lol).

I noticed that each class has a chat room option. I think students should be encouraged to use that as a tool. Maybe while they are online working on homework they should be encouraged to log into that chat and classmates can talk about the homework, help each other out. This is my fourth semester and about a week ago was the first time I had ever used the chat room, but it would be a great tool for learning from each other. I realize that sometimes solitary learning is easier but I also know that sometimes everybody needs a little bit of help or certain topics may stick some people. I just think the chat tool in the classrooms would help out with that. I never know when someone is online working at about the same time as me. However, if we were both in the chat room and I had a question before emailing the teacher I could ask my classmate. Then maybe learn better because I would in a way be having a conversation.

Maybe if the teacher approves, we could test the idea in this class because it's always nice to have someone to bounce an idea off of from time to time. (Of course, the blogging is great for that too.)

Happy Blogging!
